Many people have always loved playing board games such as Candy Land, Chutes and Ladders, and Clue. Playing video games helps improve one’s hand eye coordination and provide hours of entertainment and education. Video games and video game systems have come a long way throughout the years. In the 1970s, Pong was the newest thing in video game systems and in the 1980s; Atari was the “must have” video game system for kids of all ages. In the 1990s and beyond, the Nintendo games and Nintendo gaming systems took center stage in the video game world. It seems that today the Nintendo Wii is a great video game system for the entire family to have hours of fun with playing educational games. It is essential to understand that video games can be and are both entertaining and educational. The Nintendo Wii console seems to have games that balance both entertainment and education nicely. The Nintendo Wii console seems like the ideal video game system for all levels of video game lover. Now, let’s discuss the origins of the Nintendo Wii console.

The Wii launch marked the release of Nintendo’s seventh generation video game console. This successor to the Nintendo Game Cube was released in most countries in November and December of 2006. It is the third seventh generation video game console to be released in Japan and in North America, but it was the second seventh generation gaming console in Europe, being released before the PlayStation 3. In June, 2006, during a policy briefing, Nintendo revealed its plans to release six million console units and 17 million software units during the fiscal year ending in March of 2007. Did you know that the Spanish launch of the Nintendo Wii console was moved to December 9th of 2006 due to the fact that on December 8th marked the celebration of the Immaculate Conception. Therefore, all the shops in Spain were closed. The pricing of the Nintendo Wiii console varied from country to country; for instance in the United States the Nintendo Wii sold for $250.00 and in Australia the Nintendo Wii console sold for the United States equivalent of $315. In addition, Mexico sold this video game system for the United States equivalent of $ 410.

The Nintendo Wii console is wonderful and one of its greatest games is called Wii Fit. This video game is fun because it makes exercise so fun and pleasurable that kids of all ages will forget that they are exercising. The Wii Fit is an exercise game consisting of activities using the Wii Balance Board. Training on the Wii Fit is divided into the four categories of yoga, strength training, aerobics, and balance games. It is refreshing knowing that the Wii Fit activities provide a core workout without exhausting the user. Yoga done on the Wii Fit is fun and modern Hula Hopping is excellent. In addition, who wouldn’t want to be a penguin trying to catch a fish while balancing on a piece of ice in the balance game Penguin Slide.
